This Christmas, we have an opportunity to give a very practical gift that could make a lasting difference to a child’s education.

Many of our sponsored children in Uganda are learning without reliable access to a computer. Some students share outdated devices, while others have no computer access at all. For children who are expected to complete digital assignments, research projects and online learning, this can create a significant barrier to their education. 

ABC Children’s Aid Uganda is seeking to provide 50 laptops for students across its primary and secondary schools. These computers will give students the tools they need to access educational resources, complete their schoolwork and develop digital skills that will be increasingly important to their education and future opportunities. A laptop might seem like a simple gift, but for a student it can open the door to a much wider world of learning. 

For those who would like to know what their gift could provide:

• $320 AUD can provide one laptop for a primary school student.
• $400 AUD can provide one laptop for a secondary school student.
• $2,000 AUD can provide 5 laptops and setup for a classroom.
• $4,000 AUD can provide 10 laptops and training for teachers.

ABC's goal is to raise approximately $18,000 AUD to provide the 50 laptops needed across its schools. We recognise that we are asking for significantly more this year than for Christmas baskets in previous years. We understand that this is not possible for everyone, and we want you to know that any donation, of any amount, is very welcome and can be put towards the purchase of a laptop. You don't need to cover the full cost of a laptop — every contribution will help.

Whether you give $20, $50, $100 or anything else in between, your gift will be combined with others to help put reliable technology into the hands of students who need it. 

Education is about more than completing homework. It is about developing confidence, discovering opportunities and gaining skills that can shape what is possible tomorrow.
