Why Do We Exist?

The simple answer to this question reveals a simple truth; the world doesn’t need another NGO / NFP performing the same function as hundreds of others for the same end.

If there is a legitimate reason for our existence, a strategic point of difference that separates us from others, then we must be clear about our identity and the benefit we bring to our partners.

Our Mission:

To partner with local service providers to generate sustainable, strong and healthy communities for those most affected by poverty and distress.

Our Strategic Focus:

Localised Community Leadership and Responsibility.

Our focus is oriented towards action happening on the ground, led by local leaders with an emphasis on their capacity to make choices for themselves and their communities.

Recognising, Valuing and Harnessing What Already Lies Within.

We believe God has placed His capacity in everyone, and through Him all people have the potential to bring about transformational change in their communities. It is our goal to see that potential realised and released through the projects we support.

Sustainable Stewardship.

We understand that we possess / own nothing, that all we have belongs to God. With this in mind our focus is on long term sustainability to maximise the potential for transformational growth. This is applied internally to OFI’s financial model and externally to the projects we support.

A Considered, Biblically Sound Theology of Hope.

We believe poverty and distress scars the image of God inherent in humanity. At its core this represents an injustice perpetrated against another by individuals, organisations, systems and governments. The work of the cross is, at its very core, God’s full stop against injustice. We believe Biblical hope emphasises independence from enslaving powers, both spiritual and physical. At OFI we believe we are called to be like Christ and call out both spiritual and physical injustice in order to remove barriers for the poor and those in distress.
